From the title itself, it is evident that the Aamir Khan and Kajol starrer film ‘Fanaa’ captivated the audience, attracting them to lose themselves in its narrative and beautifully woven songs. Directed by Kunal Kohli, this movie was an extraordinary love story that received immense appreciation from the audience, accompanied by soul-stirring music composed by the iconic pair Jatin-Lalit. Among the film’s memorable tracks, “Chand Sifarish,” crooned by the talented Shaan, stood out as a game-changer in his career, and he fondly recalls the impact it had.

Describing the song’s significance, Shaan shared, “It was a big struggle to sing that song. But if we remove this one song from my portfolio, only almost 60 percent will remain. This song was a huge turning point for me.”

Interestingly, there was a confusion attached to the track during rehearsals. Shaan had initially sung “Mere Haath Mein,” which was believed to be the film’s title song. However, “Chand Sifarish” also featured as the title track of “Fanaa,” leading to a delightful twist when he was called to record the title song.

Recalling the moment, Shaan said, “I was like, ‘That was a wonderful song. What is this one? This was also Fanaa’s title track.’ I did sing the song, but my heart was with the other song (‘Mere Haath Mein’). But then this song too became a superhit from this film.”

While “Chand Sifarish” became a roaring success, Shaan was initially unaware of its immense popularity. He shared, “Actually, when the film had released, I was on a tour to the US. So, I didn’t realize that the movie became such a big hit along with the song. Over there, people started demanding ‘Chand Sifarish.'” It took a moment for Shaan to recall which song they were referring to, but he soon understood the impact it had made.
