The versatile singer Shaan will recently appear in the USA’s most popular talk show, The Jay Kumar Show. The show with the motto, ‘Motivation and Inspiration With A Tadka Of Entertainment’ brings out the less-known side of Bollywood and Hollywood celebrities. Shaan’s interview has already been recorded and will be aired soon on the channel.

In the interview, among many topics when the host mentioned the increase in depression among teenagers and asked Shaan to share his thoughts, the singer admitted it surely is a problem. As he is a father to two teenage boys, he understands it’s important for the youngsters to stay in close touch with family. He said that these days young folks often associate success with the popularity gained on social media.

The vocalist said it is important to do things you are passionate about without expecting the results. ‘Don’t do something for money. Just put in the hard work and also enjoy while doing the same! The number of likes on your social media posts is a short-lived thing. To be successful you have to work consistently in the field you choose.’

Incidentally, Jay-Ho! The Jay Kumar Show is hosting Shaan’s musical concert in Boston on 7th October. When asked though he has been routinely touring globally why he has not performed in Boston for long, the singer said smilingly, ‘It is something I didn’t do intentionally. I wanted to but it did not happen. Perhaps I was waiting for Jay-Ho! to plan the event!’

Shaan’s take on mental health

When the topic turned to mental health, Shaan said it was important to maintain your physical health and also have mental peace in life. If you don’t have a balance, your work will suffer. He said when he launched the song, Tanha Dil in an attempt to talk about mental health, he wasn’t sure if the general audience would like it. But the song became an instant hit and to date, it is referred to as one of Shaan’s biggest hit numbers. Shaan said after Tanha Dil many people confessed they have suffered from mental pain and they have found the song refreshing.

The singer said it’s important to talk about mental health issues. There is a lot of social and personal stigma around discussing depression or other mental health issues openly.

You should not take things for granted in life! – Shaan

When asked how he looked so fit and charming even after working in the industry for three decades, the singer said he takes his health as a priority.

Other than of course, it is important to maintain yourself, Shaan said, ‘I’m aware people spend a lot of money to book my concert tickets. I don’t take things for granted at all. I believe in having gratitude in life. I like to give people a nice visible presence as well. It’s not because they love me, my voice and so, I’ll just go anyway! I work hard to give my best performance in terms of singing, dancing with the crowd, interacting with them, and showing my best self.’
