Gulshan Devaiah, known for his versatility, is among those actors who have never shied away from expressing their thoughts and emotions. Recently in an interview, the actor opened up about various aspects of his career, discussing his love for acting, memorable roles, and what fuels his motivation. However, it was his candid admission about experiencing jealousy that stood out.

The exceptional shows and movies in the industry have sparked a sense of healthy competition, something Gulshan believes in keeping his competitive spirit in check. He shares, “We all have a certain sense of competition, but it’s best to keep it under control. There’s good competition and bad competition, and crossing that line can be detrimental to the work you’re doing. I’ve gained the wisdom to push it aside and remember that this is a job. I must do my best. If another actor is being competitive with me, that’s fine. But when it turns into an ego battle, it’s not healthy competition.”

However, Gulshan openly admits that he does experience feelings of jealousy when he sees other actors excelling in their roles and movies. He believes in addressing these emotions rather than letting them fester. “I get jealous of other people, their careers, or films, and these days, I just tell them,” he confesses. “I felt super jealous of Vicky for ‘URI,’ Rajkummar in most of his movies, Ayushmann in ‘Andhadhun,’ and Varun in ‘Badlapur.’ When I had the chance to meet them, I shared my feelings honestly. It’s liberating to acknowledge it and let it out without letting it bother you.”

While Gulshan’s journey in the entertainment industry has been remarkable, it’s fascinating to learn that his desire to become an actor dates back to his childhood. “I’ve always wanted to be an actor for as long as I can remember,” he reveals. “I think it started when I was around five or six years old. Cinema fascinated me. Although I had a talent for drawing and painting, I decided to take a leap of faith and pursued acting. I gained admission to NFD and graduated. This step created an environment at home where my parents recognized that I had chosen a career path.”

Gulshan Devaiah’s candidness about his jealousy not only showcases his vulnerability but also reflects his genuine appreciation for the work of his peers. By openly acknowledging and expressing his feelings, he ensures that envy doesn’t consume him and instead allows him to celebrate the achievements of others.
