Actor Sharib Hashmi once believed that he wasn’t suitable for the film industry. He had aspirations of being a movie hero, but he was skeptical that he would be given any opportunities. However, his perceptions of himself were a reflection of his assumptions based on his appearance. Sharib Hashmi, who was once reclusive but is now best recognised for playing JK Talpade in the The Family Man series, is no longer a mysterious face.
In an interview with Jay-Ho! The Jay Kumar Show, Sharib poured his heart out about his struggle for stardom today. Sharib opened up to Jay-Ho in an interview about his current struggles with stardom. Speaking with the show’s host Jay Kumar, Sharib revealed that he had always had aspirations of becoming a hero but that as time passed, he began to have doubts about his appearance and personality.
Showbiz career debut as assistant director
According to Sharib, “I always wanted to be a hero, but as I got older, I gave up the thoughts of becoming an actor. I assumed that the only roles I could acquire at Rajshri Productions were as a driver or a servant because I didn’t think I had that personality, wasn’t that tall, and looked average. I therefore gave up on my ambition to become an actor.” But since I grew up watching movies and plays, whatever other work I wanted to do was exclusively in the showbiz industry, he continues. So I began my career in movies as an assistant director. My professional journey began with the Urmila Matondkar and Govinda-starring movie Hum Tumpe Marte Hain.

Sharib Hashmi began receiving parts soon after. He made his acting debut in the Academy Award-winning film Slumdog Millionaire in 2008. Following that, Sharib appeared in a number of films, including Haal-E-Dil, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Filmistaan, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, Darbaan, and Pagglait. Sharib was exceptional in all of these movies. Even a small part in the movie helped him establish his acting chops. He co-starred in the 2019 season of the Amazon TV series The Family Man with Manoj Bajpayee, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Priyamani. He portrayed JK Talpade, a witty and humorous cop. He was fantastic in the part, and JK Talpade instantly became a household name.
