The 48-year-old actress-presenter earlier announced going ahead with the production of the fourth series of The Drew Barrymore Show on CBS amid the writers’ and actors’ strike. After being criticized by her contemporaries on how she could go on with her show despite the ongoing strike by her colleagues she finally decided to take down the show. The show was slated to air on 18th September.

Drew Barrymore, a popular actress, producer, talk show host, and author was backlashed as soon as she made it public to air her show amid the strike. Following her announcement, Barrymore was immediately dropped as host of the National Book Awards in the US.

The actress however had admitted her mistake recently and humbly offered her deepest apologies on Instagram. She had shared a note, “I have listened to everyone, and I am making the decision to pause the show’s premiere until the strike is over. I have no words to express my deepest apologies to anyone I have hurt…And I truly hope for a resolution for the entire industry very soon.”

Drew Barrymore achieved fame as a child actor and has starred in several successful movies gaining awards including a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award. She comes from the notable Barrymore family which has produced many outstanding actors.

The strike by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) now joined by the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) has caused great strife in Hollywood affecting its business. The demands of the writers and actors include pay concerns, the use of artificial intelligence (AI), and right conduct from the streaming platforms.

Till now, there is no sign of resolution. The streaming companies and film production houses are not giving in to the protesters. As a result, major Hollywood projects are on hold. At this rate, the movie industry will keep suffering.
