Kareena Kapoor looks intense in the newly released poster of her upcoming film, The Buckingham Murders. Directed by Hansal Mehta, this detective drama recently premiered at the BFI London Film Festival 2023 and received a standing ovation from the crowd. Reportedly, Kareena takes on the role of an investigative detective in this crime thriller. Inspired by the Emmy Award-winning HBO show Mare of Easttown, Kareena looks somewhat similar to Kate Winslet’s character in the show. In the poster, her black-and-white appearance exudes an old British charm, further adding to the appeal.
The film follows the journey of Jass, a determined detective who delves into a murder case in the quaint town of Buckinghamshire. With every inhabitant being considered a suspect, the suspense continues to build.
The cast of The Buckingham Murders
The movie boasts a star-studded ensemble cast including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen. Produced by Balaji Telefilms and TBM Films, Kareena is also a co-producer of the project.
Filmed primarily in London, the movie features 80% English dialogue and 20% Hindi dialogue.
Kareena has shared her first look from the movie on social media with a caption, “Presenting #TheBuckinghamMurders.”
The poster indeed looks gripping. Critics anticipate this could be Kareena’s career-best film. The movie will be screened at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film on 27 October Festival as an opening film.
In interviews, Kareena has expressed her excitement about taking on this challenging role, expressing her admiration for Kate Winslet’s performance in Mare of Easttown. According to sources, she wasn’t getting any interesting roles to play for long. So, when she got this opportunity to play the challenging role of a mother and a detective she grabbed the film without hesitation.
It could be a turning point in her career with her recent debut in the OTT with Jaane Jaan and now, The Buckingham Murders. In both of these flicks, the actress has gone de-glam and played the role of a mother. Both the characters are challenging roles as well. Her part in Jaane Jaan is receiving great praise. And with the grand reception at the London Film Festival, we can expect Kareena to stun the audience with her acting in The Buckingham Murders.
